OSPP-REC: Towards the European Open Science Agenda

The Open Science Policy Platform The mandate of the Open Science Policy Platform (OSPP), which has been running for two years now, is to advise the Commission on how to further develop and practically implement open science policy, to radically improve the quality and impact of European science, support policy formulation and implementation, and to offer best practices for open science. European Open Science Cloud: How libraries can spring into action

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) is to be established as a central infrastructure for open science in Europe. It is therefore important for libraries and other infrastructure institutions to know what role they can play in this context and how they can already become involved in the course of development. The development of the EOSC is flanked by projects such as EOSCpilot. Ilaria Fava and Valentina Cavalli report on the opportunities for libraries to participate and how they can promote open science. What are the goals of the EOSCpilot project? The EOSCpilot is a two-year EC project to support […]

GO-FAIR: A Member States-Up strategy for the EOSC implementation

The European Commission (EC) launched the INFRADEV-04-2016 Call entitled European Open Science Cloud for Research on April 15 during the European Open Science Cloud Info Day and now a consortium is starting with the work to build up the core elements of the EOSC. But, as the EOSC is more about federating and interconnecting existing research infrastructure and only providing new layers for disciplines without a sufficient infrastructure, proposals are needed how to optimally connect the existing research infrastructure. The EOSC Workshop with Member States representatives of June 29, 2016 clearly identified the need for additional, subsidiary activity and mandate […]

The last six months show that key priorities of the European Commission in the European Research Area (ERA) need to be synchronised – in particular for Open Innovation and Open Science there seem to be sensible reasons for such a synchronisation. How this can be done with the help of Science 2.0 is outlined in…
